Referral vs Recruitment

These terms get mixed up constantly. Here's the clean breakdown of the three overlapping systems: Referral Codes, the Guide System (recruitment), and org recruitment.

1. Referral Program

The Referral Program is the 5,000 UEC code system. Every backer gets a unique code like STAR-RCJM-R2X5. New players enter it during signup. Result: new player gets 5,000 UEC; referrer gets points toward CIG's community reward ladder (exclusive skins, titles, liveries).

2. Guide System (Recruitment)

The Guide System is an official in-game mentorship program. Experienced players volunteer as "Guides" to mentor "Recruits" through their first hours in the Persistent Universe. This is a separate opt-in system joined via the Guide System tab on the RSI website.

3. Org Recruitment

Orgs are player-run groups (like guilds). They are not tied to CIG's reward systems. Org recruitment just means joining a community of players to do operations together - mining fleets, bounty squads, cargo convoys, PvP crews, roleplay organisations. No bonuses from CIG are involved.

Can I participate in all three?

Yes - and you should:

  1. Enter a referral code at signup → 5,000 UEC.
  2. Join the Guide System once in-game → free mentor.
  3. Join an org after you've found your preferred playstyle → ongoing community.

Start with the referral code - it's the one with a direct currency payout and the one most new players miss.
